Auditions Begin this Month for "A Few Good Men"

The Holland Chorale is Auditioning Tenors and Basses for its Upcoming 2006-2007 Season on August 24.

As it begins the celebration of its 47th Season, The Holland Chorale’s 75-member ensemble is looking for "a few good men" to join the group beginning this fall.

According to Artistic Director Gary Bogle, "If you're a guy, you can carry a tune and read music, we would love to have you help us make great music! There's so much singing talent out there, yet good male singers aren't in ready supply like good female singers are."

The Chorale holds four main concerts during the season commencing with its fall Premier Concert in October, plus a number of special performances capped off by the Chorale's Annual Tulip Time Show.

The Chorale has enhanced the lives of the Holland community for the past 46 years, inspiring involvement in the arts throughout Western Michigan.

The auditions for male voices is scheduled for August 24, at the Holland Area Arts Council First rehearsals for the new season commence Thursday, August 31.

Contact Jayne Philipps (616-494-0256) or email jayne@hollandchorale.org to make an appointment for Holland Chorale auditions.  Also, visit the Chorale website at www.hollandchorale.org to find out more about the organization.

Backgrounder: More About the Holland Chorale:

Who We Are and What We Do

The Holland Chorale is a seventy-five member volunteer choral organization, now beginning its 47th season, which performs a great variety of choral literature. Major Works of the choral tradition as well as lighter fare are part of the group's wide repertoire.

The chorale has commissioned new choral works by such luminaries as Norman Dello Joio, Daniel Pinkham, Francis McBeth, and Rene Clausen and Stephen Paulus. In 2008,American composer Gwyneth will create a new choral work  which will be world premiered by the Holland Chorale.

Chorale performers are individuals from the greater Holland area. All have careers other than in music performance…educators, nurses, auto repairers, computer technicians, bakers, lawyers, students, ministers, home makers…to name just a few of the many careers represented by volunteer members. Weekly rehearsals from late August to early May make the Holland Chorale the great success that it is.

For the past 28 years the Holland Chorale Community Outreach Program (formerly known as The March Festival) has sponsored, ensured funding, and performed for school chiildren and community members. This new yearlong celebration of the arts involves over 13,000 people. The chorale looks forward to its 29th year of educational outreach.
